The city of Grand Rapids knows how to celebrate the holidays. From Holiday parties and festivals to outdoor ice rinks, there is variety of ways to celebrate the holidays for both locals and visitors. A yearly tradition in Grand Rapids is called "Light Up Downtown" . This year is special, as it is the first year Pearl Street will have special holiday lights starting December 1st!

Our hotel is located on the corner of Pearl Street and Front Street. Those traveling off US 131 will now be welcomed to the city by holiday lights lining Pearl Street from Ah-Nab-Awen Park to Rosa Parks Circle. Kick off Light Up Downtown starting across the street at the Gerald R. Ford Museum at 5pm with Mayor Bliss.

Expect Christmas carols, walking tours through the holiday lights, ice carvings, snow globe creation, donut holes, ice skating performances and special guest appearances including Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, sled dogs and reindeer. At 5:30pm, join the City of Grand Rapids Special Events team as they light up Ah-Nab-Awen Park. The event concludes with the annual Holiday Tree lighting at 6:30pm in Rosa Parks Circle. This is one event you will not want to miss!

Happy Holidays!
