Safety Measures & Precautions

The health and safety of our associates and guests is a top priority. As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we are actively monitoring guidance provided by public health officials, and we want to assure our visitors that additional sanitary measures are in place to maintain a healthy environment and limit the spread of germs. In addition to our regular and very thorough cleaning procedures, we are currently taking extra precautions, including:

  • Housekeeping is using EcoLab Peroxide Cleaner and Disinfectant Spray on all surfaces that guests or employees might touch in common areas, including the front desk, guest elevators, lobby restrooms, stairwell handrails and more.
  • Inside guest rooms, we are using EcoLab Peroxide Cleaner and Disinfectant Spray and always change to new, clean rags between rooms.
  • All high touch surfaces are being cleaned and disinfected several times throughout the day in guest corridors.
  • Guest check-in reception area is being cleaned every 30 minutes including all counters, pens, phones, and PIN pads.

Did you know July 15th is National Ice Cream Day? Our guests have told us the best places for ice cream in Grand Rapids, and we agree! While visiting the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown, we hope you take these local favorites into consideration.

 

Pearl Street Grill

Ready to relax with a movie while enjoying an ice cream treat? Found within our hotel, Pearl Street Grill  offers dessert options ranging from sundaes to brownies topped with ice cream. Grab and go ice cream treats are also found within our Pearl Street Lounge.

 

Jersey Junction

Known as one of the oldest ice cream shops in Grand Rapids, Jersey Junction has served ice cream since 1963. Here one will find local Hudsonville ice cream with flavors varying from Cinnamon Churro to Turtle Sundae. Before leaving, do not forget to make your mark by signing a bench!

 

Furniture City Creamery

Another local favorite is Furniture City Creamery. Whether you prefer ice cream sandwiches, vegan ice cream, sundaes, shakes or hand scooped ice cream, this creamery provides a variety of options year round.

 

Love's Ice Cream

Dairy or no dairy, Love's Ice Cream features made from scratch ice cream with flavors inspired by local businesses. Dairy and vegan, coconut-based ice creams rotate flavors daily. Options may include White Russian, Madcap Coffee and Roasted Strawberry Sorbet. Did we mention they offer half and full year 'pints club membership' options?

 

Frosty Boy

Frosty Boy, known for their lemon-flavored soft serve, provides guests with ice cream in two locations - Grand Rapids and Rockford. Despite closing for over a decade, guests have been able to enjoy the familiar ice cream delicacies since reopening in 2015. Vegan and gluten free options are also available.
