It is August already and summer is beginning to wind down in West Michigan. Before temperatures get too chilly, consider taking the kids to John Ball Zoo for a family day out. Make learning come alive for you and your children through their education programs. This free two day event takes place August 17th and 18th! Head out to Rosa Parks Circle in the heart of downtown to check out notable jazz performers as well as new up-and-coming artists. This event is perfect for the whole family so bring out some snacks and a folding chair to relax during the weekend.
Breakaway Music Festival is the end of summer party every young adult is attending. Taking place on Friday August 23rd, and Saturday August 24th this event features tons of popular musical acts including Wiz Khalifa and Blackbear. This event is designed specifically for children ages 8-12 is a fun five-day cooking series event to share the passion of cooking between kids and experienced chefs. The Sur La Table event, beginning August 12th, encourages children to make new friends and create special menus to express their culinary creativity. Tickets are on sale here.
The Grand Rapids Children's Museum is filled with fun for the whole family! Exhibits rotate on a monthly basis, so check out the website to see the latest attraction for August. As a bonus every Thursday from 5pm - 8pm is Family Night, which means admission is only $1.75!
