Road Construction Season 2017

Sidewalks are closed along Pearl Street heading into the city.

It is, once again, the time of the year for road construction! During spring and summer, Michigan likes to take its visitors and residents alike on the scenic route around town by guiding them through the detours surrounding the many road construction projects. 2017 is no exception! The most recent of these projects is the resurfacing of Pearl Street between Ottawa and the Grand River. Though this is not taking place on the stretch of Pearl Street directly in front of the Holiday Inn Downtown, it does make travel between us and the downtown area a little tricky. As far as driving goes, visitors from the North, South, and West should not run into any problems; however, visitors travelling in from the East get to take a slightly different drive around town. After exiting I-196 at the Ottawa exit, the easiest way to reach us is to take the first right onto Michigan Street, followed by a left on Mt. Vernon and another left onto Pearl Street. Fortunately we also have two beautiful pedestrian only bridges just to the North and South of us which will allow for a nice scenic stroll for those walking into town since, you guessed it, the sidewalk is also currently closed on both sides of Pearl Street between the Grand River and Monroe. For everyone visiting us during this lovely time of year, please allow for a little extra travel time and maybe let the detours guide you toward a new adventure.
